Ayurvedic Abyhanga Warm Oil Massage ~ This Ayurvedic warm herbal oil massage is a combination of rapid choreographed strokes, intuitive movements and integration of accu-pressure (Marma) points that are designed to bring nourishment to the tissues, deep relaxation to the muscles and calmness to the mind. Warm oil penetrates deep into the tissues to loosen toxins at the cellular level. The Abyhanga Massage also enhances immunity, increases circulation and dissolves accumulated toxins in the body and mind.

Because each body type is unique, the oil is blended with specific herbs or essential oils to meet your individual needs. We recommend that each client take a Dosha Quiz to determine which body type they have. Blended Ayurvedic oils that will correlate to your Dosha will be used during this treatment. [60 min - $65]

* Because of the large amount of oil used during this treatment, appointments are only scheduled at our Montclair Studio.

WINTER
December - March, Respiratory System:

Dairy products and refined carbohydrates encourage mucus production (in ayurveda they are defined as kapha-forming) so avoid both when suffering from nasal catarrh, colds and coughs.

Steam inhalants can help clear a stuffy nose as well as relieve allergic conditions. Try thyme or hyssop for chesty colds or camomile flowers for mild asthma attacks or hey fever. Use 1 ounce (25g) of dried herb to 2.5 pints (1.25 litres) of boiling water. Leave to infuse thoroughly for 4-5 minutes then inhale steam for 10-15 minutes. Stay in a warm room for at least 30 minutes.

Try adding 5 drops of eucalyptus oil to your shower for a refreshing steam room experience that will aid in congestion and breathing difficulties. Keep the bathroom door closed to maximize the eucalyptus steam.

Chest rubs can help relive congestion in coughs and colds. Add 5 drops of essential oil like hyssop, thyme, eucalyptus or tea tree to 1tsp (5ml) of almond oil and massage gently into front and back of chest. After the chest rub, you may want to cover the areas with a warm or hot towel to increase the penetrating effects of the essential oils and enhance the treatment.

Payments ~ As of September 6, 2008 we are able to accept payments through PayPal email invoices.
